Buttermilk pancakes, biscuits baked every morning, and coffee that never runs dry. A scratch kitchen in East Nashville, serving breakfast all day since 1987.

About the diner
The Blue Plate opened on Woodland Street with twelve counter stools, one griddle, and a biscuit recipe that has not changed since. Regulars still take the same seats, and the first pot of coffee is on before sunrise.
Everything is made in house. We crack our eggs to order, cut our own hash browns, and make the sausage gravy in the pan every morning. If it comes to your table, somebody in our kitchen made it that day.
From our guests
“The country fried steak is the best I have found in Nashville, and I have looked. Gravy made in the pan, you can taste the difference.”
“We drive across town every Saturday for the pancakes. The coffee never hits the bottom of the cup before someone tops it off.”
“Took my parents here when they visited and my dad still brings it up. Biscuits like his mother made, his words.”
